Mercy Health Partners Launches Stronger As One Campaign
Muskegon, Mich., June 13, 2008 – Mercy Health Partners today announced that it is launching a campaign it is calling Stronger As One. The objective of the campaign is to communicate to the community that the merger announced on April 2 is creating a health care system that is Stronger As One.
“The campaign message begins to convey how the new system is creating opportunities to focus on improving quality, opportunities for new medical therapies and access close to home, “ said Roger Spoelman, president and CEO.
“We have made great progress in a short time. Before the merger, we spent a lot of resources on competing with one another. Today, we are Stronger As One, focusing our resources on the vision of becoming a nationally recognized healthcare destination.”
In addition to the immediate cost savings, Spoelman sees a number of physician collaboration efforts, the beginning of a regional strategic planning process, identification and adoption of best practices within the system, all of which are important elements Mercy Health Partners will deliver to the community.
The Stronger As One campaign will begin to introduce combined programs that will deliver greater efficiencies, bring new clinical therapies, technology and new physician access within the region. In addition, the campaign reflects the importance of Mercy Health Partners’ economic impact on the region. As the Lakeshore’s largest employer with 4,300 associates, the future strength of Mercy Health Partners is critical to the success of the region.
According to the Michigan Hospital Association, West Michigan’s hospitals provided wages, salaries and benefits of about $5.2 billion in 2006, and hospitals across the state spent approximately $286 billion on everything from food, linens and pharmaceuticals to maintenance services and utilities in 2006.
“Look for Stronger As One to be something each of our physicians and associates can begin to prove and share through our programs within our communities and region,“ said Spoelman.
