MERCY HEALTH PARTNERS’ PAIN CLINIC OPENS AT NEW LOCATION

Muskegon, Mich. – July 22, 2009 – Mercy Health Partners (MHP) today announced that its Pain Clinic has opened at a new location, on the main floor of the Ambulatory Center on the Hackley Campus, with an expanded facility offering patients suffering from chronic pain better access to care.

“Our goal is to provide optimal patient care, and the new location will help us more efficiently meet patients’ needs with more treatment rooms and a more modern space,” said Dr Jeffery S.Sears Medical Director of MHP’s Pain Clinic. “The new location and expansion of the Pain Clinic will also support the growth of our other hospital services.” said William Rhodes, Clinical Manager.

Mercy Health Partners’ Pain Clinic, under the medical direction of Jeffery S. Sears, D.O., specializes in the treatment of pain through the use of a wide range of advanced interventional and non-interventional techniques, including:

• radio frequency ablation
• intra articular hip injections
• spinal cord stimulator trials
• cervical, thoracic and lumbar epidurals
• sympathetic nerve blocks
• injections for hip bursas, sacroiliac joints, select nerve root injections
• specialized treatment for cancer pain

Patients suffering from chronic pain must be referred to the clinic. The physicians at the Pain Clinic stay in communication with the referring physician throughout every step of treatment.

“We handle a variety of cases and try to provide education to enable them to more easily deal with their pain. We take a multidisciplinary approach to pain management,” Sears said. “The new location will more readily be able to accommodate more of these types of patients with the proper patient education and support.”
