Muskegon Area Medication Disposal Program to Collect Medication & Launch New Daily Medication Disposal Program

Muskegon, Mich. - June 14, 2010 - On Saturday, June 19, 2010, the Muskegon Area Medication Disposal Program (MAMDP) will host the area's third unused medication collection event in Muskegon. Through this event, MAMDP will reduce the amount of unused and expired medications in residents' homes through a free, safe and effective program to improve the environment and reduce the risk of accidental poisonings. To date, the program has collected over 1,000 pounds of medications and hopes double this by the end of the year.

By working with local law enforcement, MAMDP will accept both over-the-counter and controlled medications. Community residents may drop off their unused or expired medications for proper disposal. When dropping off medications, residents should be sure to mark out patient information while leaving the medication information visible.
