Center for Cancer Care Services
Medical
oncology care and non-medical support services for patients and
families is provided at the Center for Cancer Care. Membership with
the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group enables patients to take
advantage of the same experimental drugs administered at a major
cancer treatment center. Staff uses a team approach and treats the
whole person.
The Center for Cancer Care Team
Medical Oncologists who are physician specialists in the medical
treatment of cancer.
- A pharmacist who prepares chemotherapy in a special area, assures
accurate dosages and checks for drug incompatibilities.
- A registered nurse who is specially trained in administering
chemotherapy, who will also be able to evaluate and aid in meeting
special needs of patients.
- A social worker who can provide referral to local service and
agencies.
- A Pastoral Care Chaplain who will be available for spiritual
counseling and support
- A dietitian who can provide nutritional counseling by supplementing
or changing the patient's diet to cope with the side effects of
chemotherapy treatments and cancer itself.
- Added services that include laboratory tests, X-rays and scans.
Hours
Patients will be seen in the Center for Cancer Care on weekdays
by appointment. We are available to answer any questions and schedule
appointments.
